Not sure if true or not, but I read somewhere the 3.2 has some sort of pressure valve on the common rail that won't allow too much build up, so check that or maybe Luke or other PX owners can advise if they've heard this. Had to disconnect both times, and after the tracks issue, just took it off. No noticeable difference until turned way up, and it STOPPED on me twice, once in the streets local, once on the tracks. I put a Donator chip in from Italy though, to see if I could tweak for better fuel econ, get better power up high in the revs too, and still keep similar / slightly better power, but failed. I say this because yours would have more torque / power than my PK 3.0 and mine goes like the clappers !!

Towing, carrying, or maybe you 'just WANT IT' (more power / torque, leave commos standing at the lights) If a fault occurs, it must be proven that the aftermarket part has caused to fault.įIVO, don't want to be seen as turning you off a chip set up. So my question is, to all those who have used them, and or have chipped their BT-50/Rangers, what your expefiences have been like.Īlso regarding warranty, it's against the law to refuse warranty because of the use of an aftermarket part. Especially after adding the 33" tyres, it's either change diff ratios or get more power to regain my acceleration again, especially for overtaking etc. Yes there are others offering even more (upto 50% more) but 20% is a good reliable gain. But 20% is almost a nice 100nm more torque, which I think is worth the money over others offering only half that. The Steinbauer is guaranteed 20% increases unlike others who might advertise the same or more but offer only 15%. There are a few others out of Germany as well, many from Europe at much lesser cost than typical Aussie, over-inflated, rip-off prices, as well as a German made Aussie tested "Red Dirt" which is really getting good raves as well, and about $400 cheaper. One bloke had 2 prados, one with a DP-Chip and another with a Steinbauer and the Steinbauer performed better as well as he noted that the DP-Chipped vehicle had a much sootier exhaust and seemed to be a little over-fuelling.

I have researched a fair bit now and the Steinbauer keeps coming out on top for both quality and other peoples experiences in using them.

This is the unit I am leaning towards as they don't directly obtain their power from simply altering the fuel pressure but rather the injection window (pulse width) as well as throttle position and other management controls. I haven't come across a great deal on the chips for the newer BT-50/Rangers yet, in particular the Steinbauer.
